OT When Icicles Hang by the Wall . . .

veer
9 years ago

When icicles hang by the wall,
And Dick the shepherd blows his nail,
And Tom bears logs into the hall,
And milk comes frozen home in pail,
When blood is nippd and ways be foul,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-whit;
Tu-who, a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.

When all aloud the wind doth blow,
And coughing drowns the parsons saw,
And birds sit brooding in the snow,
And Marians nose looks red and raw,
When roasted crabs hiss in the bowl,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-whit;
Tu-who, a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.

. . . as the Bard noted of a cold English winter.
Over here we have been following the extreme weather conditions you, in the US/Canada, have been going through recently.
Are the total lack of postings here at RP due to power-outages in your neck of the woods? If so I guess your non-replies will indicate that you can't even read this.
I understand the Jet Stream is probably to blame . . . at least if the UK 'Weathermen' are to be believed.
Over the British Isles the JS has 'performed' a U shape curve dropping down along the West coast of Ireland, across the English Channel and up the West Coast of France bringing cloud rain murk gloom . . . not unusual conditions for November but at least it is well above freezing.
Keep warm, read lots of comforting books and let the rest of us know how you are getting on.
